Underscore

About Underscore

Story

I make fast, hard, and melodic music! I'm known for Frenchcore, Speedcore, and Hardcore of all varieties, but I love most genres of EDM. My goal is for my art to reach as many people as possible.

Even though I focus on music, I'm always interested in learning new creative skills. I do my own graphic design, video editing, 3D modeling, drawing/pixel art, writing, and (clearly) website design. Even if I can't create the most professional or polished products in my niche, I'm constantly improving and proud of my work.

Style/Aesthetic

Over the years, I've focused on creating a distinct identity for myself. No matter the genre, I try to keep songs concise and varied, removing any unnecessary elements. I love creating a delicate balance between brutal kicks and beautiful melodies!

My visual style is futuristic, digital, and abstract. I often use the anime art style for character art - the softer style adds personality and contrasts with the more precise and electronic elements.

I aim for my visuals, and especially my videos, to transport you to a larger world beyond the music. I want my art to let people escape into a new reality.

Life and History

On September 30th, 2015, I created my YouTube channel! Ever since I can remember, I wanted to create things, and the channel was an outlet to show the world - mainly, it consisted of amateurish stop-motion animations. I got FL Studio as a birthday present the year after, and started making various attempts at house, trap, and dubstep. Eventually, I decided I no longer wanted to be known for animations, and renamed the channel to "Underscore", as a play on the word "score" to refer to sheet music.

Around 2018, I took a huge interest in Beat Saber, and began also uploading Beat Saber content, in addition to music. My time listening to community songs in Beat Saber massively influenced my music taste, and introduced me to hardcore music!

In 2020, after a nearly year-long break from music, I started taking my career more seriously, and set my mind to improving both my audio and visual quality. I decided to upload exclusively music content, and started making music that leaned into hardstyle, hardcore, and speedcore. I was finally beginning to get listeners from outside my real-life circle, even! I've continued to put hours upon hours into my work each year, and will keep making art as long as I possibly can.
